Simon Pearce
Simon Pearce was born into a racing family, being the son of Lydia and Jeff Pearce.
Simon began his career as a jockey, firstly as an amateur and then as an apprentice. His achievements include being champion all weather amateur in 2006/07 and then winning the Betfair apprentice series in 2009. Whilst race riding, Simon rode a total of 95 winners and has ridden for several high profile trainers and owners including Her Majesty The Queen.
Whilst a jockey, Simon took the opportunity to spend a significant amount of time overseas in both the USA and Australia. He managed to spend time working with some of the most respected trainers, including Gai Waterhouse, Ben Cecil, Doug O'Neill, Bjorn Baker, Richard Baltas and Neil Drysdale, to name a few. As you can imagine, this has provided Simon with valuable insight into how Internationally they prepare their horses for competition at the highest level.
In 2018 Simon decided that it was time to hang up his riding boots, and pursue a career in the training of racehorses. He began by studying towards his trainers licence, at the same time as being assistant trainer to his Mum, Lydia.
In the Autumn of 2019, Simon was successfully granted his training licence, and Wroughton House Stables, Newmarket became his base.
We are delighted to have Simon as our trainer of choice, as he is young, ambitious and extremely approachable. As a horseman with his experience and ideas, we feel that he will get the very best out of our horse(s) and provide our shareholders with great insight and enjoyment.
